Head Start Custodian
/Position Title: Head Start Custodian
Department: Yeqwethet Aylexw
Yeqwethet Aylexw is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to fill the position of Custodian. The Yeqwethet Aylexw Custodian will provide routine maintenance and upkeep of Head Start facilities, grounds and associated systems and equipment. The tasks of the Custodian will contribute to the outcomes of the inspections of the grounds and facilities. This position may be required to work evenings and weekends.
This position will operate under the supervision of the Manager of Yeqwethet Aylexw.
Qualifications and Requirements
Minimum of one year of work-related experience or a combination of equivalent training and experience.
Knowledge of WCB and WHIMIS rules and regulations would be considered an asset
First Aid certification is considered an asset
Must be willing to obtain certification in WHIMIS, Building Service Worker Training and other skills training to meet Work Safe BC requirements
Ability to conduct and prepare monthly maintenance activity reports for the department Manager
Understands how to operate janitorial equipment
Ability to follow procedures for the safe use of chemical cleaners and power equipment
Must be well organized and bale to complete assigned duties promptly and accurately
Self-motivated, resourceful and punctual
Ability to be both a team player yet works well independently with little or no supervision
Excellent verbal communication skills
Ability to adhere to confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning the operations of the Yeqwethet Aylexw department and the Head start programs.
Knowledge of Sts’ailes culture, traditions and history would be an asset
A valid class 5 driver’s licence
Wage Range: Based on the Sts’ailes Salary Grid
Type of Position: Part Time- this position is subject to a 3-month probationary period and performance evaluation
