Grounds Maintenance Worker
/Position Title: Grounds Maintenance Worker
Department: Operations and Maintenance
The Capital and Public Works Department is seeking a dynamic team member to fill the position of Grounds Maintenance Worker. The Capital and Public Works Department Grounds Maintenance Worker provides routine maintenance and upkeep to the grounds which are serviced by the Capital and Public Works Department. The work of the Grounds Maintenance Worker may affect the inspections of the grounds. This position may be required to work some evenings and weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRMENTS:
Minimum of 1 to 2 years work experience.
Vocational training and/or willing to attend skills training related to building maintenance would be an asset.
Valid WHIMIS certification would be an asset or willing to obtain certification.
First Aid would be an asset.
Experience with Water Irrigation Systems would be an asset.
Ability to work cooperatively with all department staff.
Ability to effectively and efficiently operate equipment including but not limited to skid steer, backhoe, industrial lawn mower, weed eater
Ability to make minor repairs and undertake standard maintenance procedures on all equipment.
Ability to monitor and carry out preventative maintenance procedures.
Experience and knowledge to ensure that company buildings and equipment meets all safety, security and fire regulations and policies.
Ability to work alone, often without supervision under varied outside environmental conditions including heat, rain and snow.
Excellent communication skills and willingness to work individually and as part of a team.
A desire to grow with the company.
Must be able to lift over 25lbs
Effective time management skills.
Strong work ethic and integrity.
Must possess a high level of interpersonal and communications skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Knowledge of Sts’ailes cultural protocols and traditions would be an asset.
Self-motivated, resourceful and punctual.
Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when required.
Must have a valid Class 5 driver license.
Wage Range: Based on the Sts’ailes Salary Grid
Type of Position: Full-time –This position is subject to a 3-month probationary period and performance evaluation.
